The cast of Broadway's 42nd Street bid farewell on Sunday night, January 2, 2005 to the 2001 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival which closed earlier that night. BroadwayWorld was on hand for this exlusive after-party at Tony's DiNapoli Times Square Restaurant, 42nd Street stars old and new dined, dished and said goodbye to the show which closed earlier that night after three and a half years. The show opened on May 2, 2001 and played a total of 31 previews, and 1524 performances. From the source material of 1930s movies including "42nd Street" (1933), "Gold Diggers of 1933," "Dames" (1934) and "Gold Diggers of 1935," Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble wrote the book (based on the novel by Bradford Ropes), Harry Warren wrote the music, and Al Dubin wrote the lyrics, for the 1980 stage premiere of 42ND STREET. Mr. Bramble directed the recent Broadway production, with choreography by Randy Skinner.
