Diana DeGarmo and Shayna Steele headlined a showcase evening of songs from the new teen musical In Your Dreams at Ars Nova on October 9th and 10th.
The evening also featured Michael Cunio (The Fluffer, Hairspray), Shannon Durig (Hairspray), Sloan Just (On the Town, The Fully Monty) and Betsy Morgan (The Fantasticks), among others.
In Your Dreams features lyrics by Zeke Farrow, and music by Lucian Piane (who is Marc Shaiman's musical protégé). The evening featured musical direction by Lon Hoyt.
"In Your Dreams makes its New York City musical debut at a time when teen musicals are seeing a surge of interest from the Hollywood and Broadway entertainment communities," says Farrow. "We've been told that the music compares extremely favorably with teen musical hits of the past and present, including Grease, Hairspray, and even Disney Channel's massively successful $4 million cable-only movie, 'High School Musical'....My hope is that the Hollywood film industry will take notice of the October Ars Nova performances," says Farrow.
"In Your Dreams," according to notes, "is a large scale, splashy, teen musical -- with a dash of political satire. It centers around Helen, a 17-year-old girl who appears in three different incarnations, Black, Pink, and Blue.
