The Boomerang Theatre Company debuted The Legacy Reading Series, a new annual event featuring readings of plays from past seasons, last week to benefit the company. The series is intended to celebrate past works, while giving new audiences a chance to experience them. All proceeds from The Legacy Series are intended benefit Boomerang new play development programs.

Last Monday, February 1, Boomerang launched the series with THE MONSTER TALES by Mary Jett Parsley Wrenn, which premiered in with Boomerang in 2002.  The play centers on a lonely young woman who discovers her singular humanity when a monster appears from under her bed. THE MONSTER TALES has since been published in New York Theatre Experience's Plays and Playwrights 2004 anthology.

Starring in the reading were Broadway vets Dee Hoty (Bye Bye Birdie, Mamma Mia!, Footloose, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The Will Rogers Follies) and Larry Pine (The Royal Family, Angels in America), Jen Colella, Amy Acker, Aidan Redmond, and Vince Gatton. Cailín Heffernan directed the event.
