After more than 1,500 performances, Menopause the Musical closed on Sunday, May 14th.
Now in it's fifth year off-Broadway, Menopause The Musical,
at Playhouse 91 (316 East 91st Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues), has
"grooved its way through months of laughter, standing ovations and
sold-out houses. The production continues to thrill audiences of all
ages night after night with its charming and witty depiction of 'The
Change' and by the time the curtain falls, even has them
participating," according to press notes. "The musical parody
chronicles the meeting of four women at a lingerie sale in
Bloomingdale's fighting over a black lace bra, with nothing in common…
but memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, chocolate binges, wrinkles, plastic surgery, hormones, not enough sex, too much sex, and much, much
more."
The cast of Menopause the Musical features Lynn Eldredge, Mary Jo McConnell, Joy Lynn Matthews and Megan Thomas. After the closing night performance, the cast followed Menopause's tradition of inviting onstage audience members who have experienced "The Change."
