Photo Coverage: Broadway's New 'Violet' Phylicia Rashad Takes Her Bow In AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY

August: Osage County, which, on Friday, May 22nd, surpassed The Heidi Chronicles in the list of Broadway's longest running plays, welcomed Tony Award-winner Phylicia Rashad to the cast on Tuesday, May 26th. Ms. Rashad now stars as Violet Weston. BroadwayWorld's cameras were there last night to capture the curtain call with the acclaimed cast.

The former 'Violet', Academy Award winner Estelle Parsons, departed the drama on Sunday, May 17th after an acclaimed run in the role.

Ms. Rashad will be performing in a strictly limited engagement through SUNDAY, AUGUST 23rd. The Broadway hit also welcomed back Tony-nominee Amy Morton to the company as well.

Perhaps most widely recognized as Clair Huxtable on The Cosby Show, Phylicia Rashad is a remarkably diversified talent. She has starred in Broadway's Into the Woods, Dreamgirls, and The Wiz, among others, and most recently won a Tony Award for the Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun.

The evening of Saturday, May 30, 2009 will mark a major milestone at the Music Box Theatre - August: Osage County will surpass another long running, Tony Award winning play, The Fourposter by Jan De Hartog, when it hits its 633rd performance.

The show, which is still going strong at the Music Box Theatre. The show played to sold-out crowds in London this past winter and will embark on its national tour this summer (with recent Broadway star Estelle Parsons). A big screen version is also in the works.

August: Osage County currently stars: Phylicia Rashad as Violet Weston as well as Elizabeth Ashley, Anne Berkowitz, Guy Boyd, John Cullum, Kimberly Guerrero, Brian Kerwin Michael Milligan, Mariann Mayberry, Sally Murphy, Amy Morton, Troy West, and Frank Wood.

August: Osage County currently performs Tuesday at 7:00PM, Wednesday-Friday at 7:30PM, Matinees on Wednesday and Saturdays at 2:00PM, Saturdays at 8:00PM and Sundays at 3:00PM. Tickets can be purchased at Telecharge.com, or by calling (212) 239-6200. Outside the NY Metro (800) 432-7250.

The Music Box Theatre is located at 239 West 45th Street
