The press gathered on July 26, 2005 at Ruth's Chris Steak House to celebrate the August 2, 2005 release of SONDHEIM, ETC., ETC., Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall (The Rest of It).
When two-time Tony Winner Bernadette Peters made her highly-anticipated solo debut at Carnegie Hall in December 1996, The New York Times declared her smash-hit, sold-out benefit performance for Gay Men's Health Crisis "thrilling...compelling...(and) profoundly bittersweet." In March 1997, Peters' electrifying performance came to life with the release of the Grammy-nominated CD, Sondheim, Etc.: Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall.
SONDHEIM, ETC., ETC., is part II of that famous evening featuring never-before-released highlights not included in the initial concert recording. Marvin Laird is the Musical Director and Conductor of the album, which features arrangements and orchestrations by Laird, Jonathan Tunick, Peter Matz, Billy Byers, Don Sebesky, Michael Starobin, and Philip J. Lang.
SONDHEIM, ETC., ETC. captures the passion, energy, and joy of Peters' electrifying live performance at Carnegie Hall. The CD features the Broadway star at her best, performing some of her favorite Sondheim songs, including a tour-de-force performance of "Later" from A Little Night Music, the tender ballad "So Little To Be Sure Of" from Anyone Can Whistle, "Children Will Listen" from Into the Woods, and "(They Ask Me Why) I Believe in You" – a song Sondheim penned exclusively for Peters' Carnegie Hall concert.
The CD is produced by Jay Landers, along with Executive Producers Richard Jay-Alexander (who directed the Carnegie Hall concerts) and Bruce Lundvall.
