Nancy Opel, Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore

On July 14 Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore hosted the 14th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adoption event benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. Along with the hosts, the event included appearances by Montego Glover from Memphis, Megan Hilty and Anjelica Huston from NBC's Smash, Bebe Neuwirth, Porgy and Bess' Norm Lewis and Audra McDonald, Peter and the Starcatcher's Adam Chanler-Berat, Celia Keenan-Bolger and Matt Saldivar, Once's Steve Kazee and Cristin Milioti, and Venus in Fur's Nina Arianda and Rita Moreno. Ben Vereen, Liza Minnelli

Some of Broadway's legendary leading ladies came out for Ben Vereen's opening week at 54 Below. Liza Minnelli, Chita Rivera and Bebe Neuwirth were among the stars to catch "Steppin' Out with Ben Vereen" and visit with the star backstage following the performance. Other notable guests included Rachelle Rak(Catch Me if you Can). The Tony Award winner brings his hit show, a high energy tribute to the music of Broadway, to 54 Below through July 21. Celeste Holm

Broadway star and Academy Award winner Celeste Holm died on Sunday, July 15 at age 95. Holm took the stage in 27 Broadway productions. Her most recent appearance was in 1991's I Hate Hamlet. She made her debut on the Great White Way in 1938's Gloriana and originated the role of Ado Annie in Oklahoma!. She has also appeared in Broadway's The Time of Your Life, The King and I, Mame, Candida and more. In 1994, Holm participated in the Off-Broadway Encores! Concert version of Allegro. Alfred Molina, Jonathan Groff

Rehearsals began at the Mark Taper Forum for the Donmar Warehouse production of the 2010 Tony Award-winning Best Play RED by John Logan, which will open August 12, 2012. Featuring Jonathan Groff and Alfred Molina, RED will begin previews August 1 with performances continuing through September 9. For more pictures inside CTG's RED rehearsals, click here

Derek Klena & Lindsey Mendez

Second Stage Theatre presented the world premiere of the musical DOGFIGHT on Monday, July 16. The cast features Nick Blaemire(Godspell), Annaleigh Ashford (Rent, Wicked, Legally Blonde),and Lindsay Mendez (Godspell). Featuring music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, a book by Peter Duchan, and choreography by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli, the show is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello and runs at Second Stage’s Tony Kiser Theatre. Julian Ovenden, Rob Ashford, Rosalie Craig

Julian Ovenden and Rosalie Craig will star in a new musical version of the film Finding Neverland. The musical will feature Ovenden as Barrie, a role he played in two London workshops last winter, and Craig as Sylvia. The show begins rehearsals July 30 with a four to five week run scheduled at the Curve Theatre in Leicester. Performances will begin on September 21 and will run through October 18, 2012. Richard Fleeshman, Caissie Levy, Bryce Pinkham, Da'Vine Joy Randolph

On July 18, GHOST celebrated its 100th performance at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre with a cake and champagne toast on stage after their 8pm performance. The entire cast, including Richard Fleeshman, Caissie Levy and recent Tony-nominee Da'Vine Joy Randolph were on hand to celebrate. For more pictures of the celebration, click here

Lilla Crawford and Sunny

Since its 1977 debut, all productions of ANNIE on Broadway have starred real-life shelter dogs as Sandy, Annie’s adopted and loyal companion, with all of the dogs discovered and trained by 2011 Tony Honor recipient William Berloni. Continuing that tradition, Berloni has found and will train Sunny, a dog rescued from a shelter in Houston, to star as Sandy in the new production of ANNIE. Sunny, and his understudy Casey, were introduced for the first time on July 19. For more pictures of Broadway's new Sandy, click here

Aaron Lazar, Graham Rowat and Daniel Cooney

Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus’ MAMMA MIA! recently welcomed new principals Christy Altomare, Lauren Cohn, Daniel Cooney, Felicia Finley, Aaron Lazar, Graham Rowat and Zak Resnick who join Judy McLane as “Donna Sheridan” at the Winter Garden Theatre. Greg Kinnear

New York Stage and Film and Vassar College’s Powerhouse Theater are presenting Stephen Belber’s The Power of Duff, directed by Peter DuBoisand starring Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine, As Good As It Gets). Charles Duff, played by Kinnear, is a news anchor in a mid-market backwater who has an unexpected spiritual awakening on live TV. His prayers, and their answers, change his audience, his family, and his own life forever. The production runs through Sunday, July 29. To check out more production shots, click here.

The best of Broadway is presented FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer through August 16 on the Bryant Park Stage. The event continued this Thursday with performances from the casts of MEMPHIS, GHOST, ZARKANA, SISTER ACT, and WICKED. For more photos of the event, click here.

Surf the Musical, the feel-good production featuring the songs of The Beach Boys, had its world premiere at the Showroom at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The opening night festivities included a star-studded red carpet and party, featuring celebrity guests and Vegas headliners such as American Idol alumTaylor Hicks, singer Debbie Gibson, Nathan Burton, singerJosh Strickland(Peepshow), Rock Star Artist Michael Godard, Thunder from Down Under and Marissa Jaret Winokur. Marc Kudisch

Three-time Tony Award-nominated actor Marc Kudisch plays the title role in Westport Country Playhouse’s current staging of Molière’s “Tartuffe,” directed by David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director.
