Patrick Page

Patrick Page played his final performance as 'The Green Goblin' in SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK on August 5. Broadway star Robert Cuccioli, best known for his Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle winning and Tony-nominated performance as the star of Jekyll and Hyde, will take on the role. Page originated the role on Broadway first in the preview version, during which his character was killed in the first act. His Green Goblin role was expanded following the show's extended preview period of more than 180 performances. To check out more photos from the final performance, click here!

Jonathan Groff, Alfred Molina

Broadway veteran and GLEE star Jonathan Groff stars opposite original cast member Alfred Molina in the Los Angeles premiere of RED at the Mark Taper Forum. The production is currently running through September 9. Michael Grandage directs. To view more production photos, click here!

Marvin Hamlisch

Composer Marvin Hamlisch, whose latest musical theater work is on display in Nashville in the Broadway-bound production of The Nutty Professor, passed away in Los Angeles this week. He was 68 years old. Hamlisch, one of only eleven EGOT winners in the history of the entertainment industry, was awarded three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, a Tony and three Golden Globe awards for his work. On Broadway, he wrote the music for A Chorus Line—which received the Pulitzer Prize—as well as They’re Playing Our Song, The Goodbye Girl and Sweet Smell of Success. Julia Murney, Jacquelyn Piro Donovan, George Dvorsky

The York Theatre Company has added two new additions to one of the best reviewed Off-Broadway shows of the year, Closer Than Ever with Lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and Music by David Shire: Broadway veterans Jacquelyn Piro Donovan (Miss Saigon, Les Misérables) and Julia Murney (Wicked, Wild Party). Ms. Donovan replaced Christiane Noll and Ms. Murney replaced Jenn Colella who departed to join the company of the new Broadway musical Chaplin. To view more photos of Murney and Donovan,click here.

Rob McClure

Rob McClure, who originated the role of Chaplin at the La Jolla Playhouse, will star in the title role of the new Broadway musical CHAPLIN, a new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin. The production will open on Broadway on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Barrymore Theatre with previews beginning Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Acclaimed director/choreographer Warren Carlyle directs and choreographs the production. Brandon Coffey, Marsha Stephanie Blake

Bullet for Adolf, a new comedy by Woody Harrelson and Frankie Hyman, had its American premiere on August 8. Directed by Harrelson—Academy Award nominee for The Messenger and The People vs. Larry Flynt—the show began performances on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at New World Stages. Richard Thomas, Boyd Gaines

Manhattan Theatre Club will present the American premiere of Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s new version of AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE by Henrik Ibsen, directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes on Broadway this fall. Starring four-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines and Emmy Award winner Richard Thomas, AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE will play the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, with previews beginning Tuesday, September 4, 2012 and opening on Thursday, September 27, 2012. The cast and creative team met with the press this week. Robert Cuccioli

Broadway star Robert Cuccioli, best known for his Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle winning and Tony-nominated performance as the star of Jekyll and Hyde, takes on another dual role in his long-anticipated return to Broadway: Norman Osborn /The Green Goblin in Broadway’s SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark. Amy Adams, Denis O'Hare

The Public Theater's production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, part of The Public’s 50th Anniversary season at the Delacorte, officially opened on August 9. This week it was announced that the production's run will be extended one final week through Saturday, September 1. Directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel, INTO THE WOODS began previews on Tuesday, July 24. Click here to get a first look at the production! Corey Cott, Kara Lindsay

The best of Broadway is presented FREE on Thursdays this summer with “106.7 Lite FM’s Broadway in Bryant Park 2012“ – a lunchtime series that began July 12 at 12:30 p.m. on the Bryant Park Stage. The twelfth annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through August 16. Featured in this week's event were the casts of Chicago, Rebecca, Evita, Newsies, RENT, and a special guest performance by Sista's: The Musical. Catch photos of all the performances here!
