The Ritz Theatre and ArtReach proudly present "COMMUNITY SENSES An Inclusive Celebration at the Ritz" which is a fully accessible evening of theater on May 11 at 6:30 PM. Bruce A. Curless, Ritz Theatre Producing Artistic Director says "We are thrilled to present the very first completely accessible theater event in South Jersey and to be the recipient of this gift from Art Reach of Philadelphia. PNC Arts Alive, Art Reach and The Ritz Theatre Company will make this event one that we will all be very proud of."

The event will offer open captioning (digital display of dialogue), ASL shadow signing where costumed interpreters work next to the actors on stage, for people who are deaf or hard of hearing; large-print and Braille programs, audio description and a sensory workshop for people who are blind or have low-vision. The sensory workshop will allow patrons to feel the props, and costumes. There will also be a talk back with the cast following the performance. Wheelchair seating is available. These features will make it possible for every audience member to fully participate and enjoy this experience together regardless of their ability level. ArtReach is dedicated to increasing arts accessibility for people of all ages and circumstances. "We're excited about deepening our partnership with the Ritz Theatre Company and promoting their commitment to accessibility through this unique and exciting event" says Michael Norris, Executive Director for ArtReach.

This presentation will also increase the general public's awareness of the need for greater access to the arts for people with disabilities, offering those who do not have a disability the chance to experience and try for themselves technologies that make performances accessible.
