February 2nd marked the opening night for the Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) world premiere of the new play, Rx, written by Kate Fodor. Directed by Ethan McSweeny, the cast features Michael Bakkensen, Marylouise Burke, Marin Hinkle, Stephen Kunken, Paul Niebanck, and Elizabeth Rich. Rx will have set design by Lee Savage, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Matthew Richards, original music and sound design by Lindsay Jones, and prop supervision by Faye Armon. After the performance, the cast and opening night guests celebrated 48 Lounge (www.48nyc.com) in midtown Manhattan's Theatre District. Opening night guests included actor Nancy Anderson (Ionescopade, Yank!), actor Peter Bartlett (A Free Man of Color, Don Juan in Chicago), Tony Award-winner Randy Graff (City of Angels, Motherhood Out Loud), director Danny Gokdstein (Godspell), playwright A.R. Gurney (Black Tie, The Grand Manner), Willy Holtzman (Morini Strad, Sabina), Tony nominated sactor Arian Moayed (Bengal Tiger...) playwright Julian Sheppard (Buicks, Los Angeles), playwright Jonathan Tolins (Secrets of the Trade, The Last Sunday in June), actor Richard Topol (Opus, The Normal Heart), actor Alex Wyse (Lysistrata Jones), director Evan Yionoulis (The Violet Hour).

According to Primary Stages, "Meena Pierotti's job is making her unhappy. Luckily, there's a pill for that. Well, not yet. But Meena has joined the clinical trial for a new drug targeting workplace depression. The trial gets messy, however, when she falls in love with her doctor, who himself is trying to enroll in a drug trial targeting heartbreak."

Rx runs through Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Rx will play the following performance schedule: Tuesday-Thursday at 7:00pm, Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 2:00pm & 8:00pm, with Sunday matinees at 3:00pm on January 29, February 5, and February 12. Single tickets for Rx are priced at $45 for the first two weeks (January 24 - February 5) and $65 for all remaining performances (February 8 - March 3).
