Photo Flash: Peter Friedman, Sarah Steele and More at SCHOOLED Reading

Ken Davenport of Davenport Theatrical Enterprises presented a reading of the new play Schooled, written by Lisa Lewis and directed by Jules Ochoa, as part of the Davenport Developmental Reading Series. Schooled stars Tony nominee Peter Friedman (Playwrights Horizon's Circle Mirror Transformation), Sarah Steele (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's Slowgirl), Harry Zittel (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's All-American) and Zoë Winters (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's 4000 Miles). The reading took place on Monday, December 3rd at The Davenport Studios, located at 250 West 49th Street, Suite 304, in New York City. Check out photos from the reading below!

Schooled by Lisa Lewis explores the widening chasm between privilege, economic class and the opportunities for success. Two students vie for a competitive grant from their roguish professor in a taut threesome that tests their romantic relationship and their ethics. A biting drama with surprising humor, Schooled is an examination of the lies we tell ourselves, and the truths we refuse to believe.

A New York Times-published essayist and acclaimed storyteller, Lisa Lewis' plays have been developed by Naked Angels Tuesdays@9, The New Ohio Theatre, New Helvetia Theatre and The Eureka Project. Her essays and profiles have appeared in The New York Times, ELLE Magazine, Kirkus Reviews and New York Press. A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Dramatic Writing Program, Lewis spent six years writing script coverage and development notes for New Line Cinema, Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal at Tribeca Film, and The Weinstein Company. Sarah Steele has appeared at Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 in Greg Pierce's Slowgirl and Julia Brownell's All-American. Other New York credits include Stephen Karam's Speech & Debate (Roundabout Underground), Erika Shaffer's Russian Transport and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie with Cynthia Nixon (both The New Group). Her films include Please Give with Catherine Keener, Spanglish with Adam Sandler and Margaret with Matt Damon.

Harry Zittel's theatre credits include Julia Brownell's All-American at Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 and Paul Weitz's Privilege at Second Stage. His film credits include The Virginity Hit, Taking Woodstock, The Bounty Hunter, Stephanie Daley and Spinning Into Butter.

He is the Creative Development Director for Michael Filerman Productions.
