As the economy continues to struggle, attending live performance has become a luxury for many people in Chicago, but for fans of New Millennium Theatre Company, high quality late night theatre remains accessible at an affordable price. New Millennium (NMTC) has always prided itself on being accessible both in price and content to all types of audiences, but with their latest production, Police Academy: Insurgency Emergency, NMTC has gone even further with discounts that make a night on the town even more affordable.
Police Academy: Insurgency Emergency, a comedy parodying the popular film franchise from the 80's, brings the loveable movie icons Mahoney, Jones, Tackleberry, Hooks, Zed, Sweetchuck, and, of course, their arch nemesis Captain Harris to life on the stage in a new adventure mirroring elements of America's own foreign policy.
Throughout the run, all local law enforcement, armed forces (active duty and reservists) and first responders receive a $5 discount off full price ($15) tickets (or $10 discount for two) by showing their credentials at the box office. Students and industry members receive the same discount and thanks to the member based website Goldstar.com, audience members have access to a limited number of tickets at half price as well. The performance will be running at National Pastime Theatre (4139 N. Broadway), located in a neighborhood filled with affordable dining and drink options for before or after the show, making an evening of theatre more affordable (and more fun) alternative to the same old evening at the multiplex.
Police Academy: Insurgency Emergency runs March 6 through April 11, 2009, Friday and Saturday nights at 10:30 pm, at National Pastime Theater, 4139 N. Broadway in Chicago. Advance tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.nmtchicago.org or reserved by calling 312-458-9083. Half-price tickets available while supplies last at www.goldstar.com. $10 student and industry tickets are available (Students must show current student ID; industry must provide h/r or business card at box office).
