Photo Flash: OUR SON'S WEDDING at FST

By:

Rehearsals are underway for the regional premiere of Our SOn'S Wedding by Donna de Matteo, which begins performances on July 6 in Florida Studio Theatre's Gompertz Theatre. Husband and wife duo, actors Marina Re and Paul D'Amato, are enjoying their time recreating the roles of Mary and Angelo Lo Presto for the show. They last appeared on stage (and in the same roles)
during the Lake George Dinner Theatre production of OUR SON'S WEDDING.

Marina said this about working with Paul on-stage, "The kind of relationship Mary and Angelo have is in our blood. But, we had never worked together professionally before the Lake George production, so we entered it with a bit of trepidation. Low and behold, not only
is Paul the man of my dreams off-stage, but he turned out to be the man of my dreams onstage as well. We discovered, despite the fact that our professional histories are quite diverse, we were completely on the same page , and working together added a whole new layer to the show. Our give-and-take on stage was so natural, sometimes it doesn't feel like we are acting at all."

Our SOn'S Wedding is a great family comedy where the past meets the present. An italian-American plumber (played by Paul D'Amato) and his wife (played by Marina re) have arrived at their son's wedding (Michael Kevin Baldwin)-to another man (gil Brady). Complications ignite in a humorous story of a family that needs to let go of the past and look toward a new beginning.
Accomplished director and actress, Janet Mitchko, is directing the production at FST. Ms. Mitchko is the Associate Artistic Director at The Public Theatre in Maine. Marina Re said this of Ms. Mitchko's work: "Janet Mitchko does everything right. She concentrates on the
relationships. She makes each moment real and honest, and nothing is done just to get a laugh.

She speaks the language of actors, being an actor herself. With this cast, this director, this play, and this theatre... I have no doubt that it'll be a marriage made in heaven."

Single tickets for OUR SON'S WEDDING range from $19 for previews to $29-$34 for regular performances. A subscription to all 3 plays of the Summer Season ranges from $29-$42. Both subscription tickets and single tickets may be purchased from the FST Box Office in
person or by calling (941) 366-9000 or online at www.FloridaStudioTheatre.org.
