On Monday, April 16, Natalie Douglas brought her new concert, "Freedom Songs," to the Broadway at Birdland stage. The show was a celebration of the union between music and civil rights activism, and highlighted songs from the fight for equality of all people, regardless of color, religion, sexual orientation, or gender.

Artists such as Sir Paul McCartney, Woody Guthrie, Dr. Nina Simone, Abbey Lincoln, Lena Horne, Helen Reddy and many more were represented in the material. Natalie was joined onstage by her longtime musical director Mark Hartman, and her band of Broadway All-Stars, as well as singers Kimberly Marable and Tanya Holt. The Broadway at Birdland concert series is presented by Jim Caruso and Birdland owner Gianni Valenti.
