Photo Flash: Meet the Cast of THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG — Revival

9 Works Theatrical's revival production of THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG features Nikki Gil, Lorenz Martinez, Reb Atadero, Peachy Atilano, James Stacey, Jill Pena, Noel Rayos, and Anna Santamaria; show runs in the Valentine month of February (2013).

Manila, Philippines, December 30, 2012 - 9 Works Theatrical, which produced last year's professional theater production of Clark Gesner's '60s musical comedy "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown," is currently working on a revival production of Marvin Hamlisch and Carol Bayer Sager's late '70s hit Broadway musical "They're Playing Our Song," which pairs up for the first time TV and recording artist Nikki Gil (who plays disorganized, quirky lyricist Sonia Walsk) and veteran stage actor Lorenz Martinez (who plays accomplished composer Vernon Gersch). Tony winner Lea Salonga and Singaporean actor/director Adrian Pang played Walsk and Gersch respectively in a previous local production of "They're Playing Our Song."

For this revival production of the Tony Award-nominated romantic comedy, which is best remembered for its hit song "Fallin'," 9 Works Theatrical reunites with Ms. Gil, who essayed the role of Charity Hope Valentine in the theater company's previous production of Bob Fosse's "Sweet Charity." Speaking of "Sweet Charity," MR. Martinez was Ms. Gil's assistant director in that show.

"It's weird but it's very exciting that I'll be sharing romantic scenes with Lorenz, who was my assistant director in 'Sweet Charity,'" Ms. Gil said. "But I know that he's also one of the most versatile character actors in Philippine Theater today. I'll surely learn a lot from him."

Apart from the main actors, "They're Playing Our Song," directed by Robbie Guevara, also features a Greek chorus composed of three male actors: James Stacey, Reb Atadero, and Noel Rayos; and three female actors: Peachy Atilano, Anna Santamaria, and Jill Pena.

9 Works Theatrical's take on "They're Playing Our Song" runs at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium from Friday, February 8 to Sunday, March 3, 2013. For tickets, call (632) 586-7105, (63) 917-5545560 or call Ticketworld (632) 891-9999. 9workstheatrical.com
