Mad Cow Theatre announces A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, playing June 3 through July 10, 2011 in it's intimate Stage Left, continuing their 80th Birthday tribute to the great Stephen Sondheim.

Winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, is Broadway's greatest farce and one of the funniest musicals ever written. Forum seamlessly combines situations from the timeless comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the fast-paced, slapstick energy of classic vaudeville to create a non-stop entertainment extravaganza. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for freedom.

Katrina Ploof (She Stoops to Conquer, The Laramie Project, Candida) will direct A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. The cast includes Shannon Bagwell as Tintinabula, Sara Catherine Barnes (Company, It Was A Very Good Year) as Gymnasia, Gail Bartell (My Fair Lady, Urinetown) as Domina, Rod Cathey (Urinetown, Sweeny Todd, Assassins) as Senex, Melissa Davis (Company) as Philia, Tony Dietterick as Lycus, Stephan Jones (The Fantasticks, Sweeney Todd, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) as Miles Gloriosus, Michael Mucciolo as Hero, Thomas Ouelette (Lobby Hero, Stop Kiss) as Hysterium, Kisha Peart (Porgy and Bess) as Vibrata, Rick Stanley (My Fair Lady, The Laramie Project, Candida) as Pseudolus, Elizabeth Takacs (She Stoops to Conquer, Sweeney Todd) as Panacea, Danny Villnow (My Fair Lady, Urinetown) as Erronius and Kevin Davis, Lori Engler, and Patch Panzella as Proteans.

The creative team includes Robin Jensen (Urinetown, archy and mehitabel) as Musical Director Kevin Davis as Choreographer, Grayson Tate as costume designer, Erin Miner as lighting designer, Alan Reynolds as scenic designer, and Kent Altman as the stage manager.

Tickets are available online at madcowtheatre.com and by calling the Mad Cow Theatre box office at 407.297.8788 x1
