Jesse Tyler Ferguson, husband Justin Mikita, and their non-profit advocacy organization, Tie The Knot, are happy to announce their latest collection of limited edition bow ties launching tomorrow, May 17th. The latest collection will include the addition of Tony award nominee this season for Hamilton, Jonathan Groff to Tie The Knot's extensive list of guest designers. The collection will be available exclusively at The Tie Bar and $20 of every $25 purchase will be donated directly back to Tie The Knot.
Drawing inspiration from Jesse's current stint on The Great White Way starring in Fully Committed, Tie The Knot is going both a touch of formal and whimsical with a variety of aptly inspired Broadway prints. Perfect for anyone looking to recapture the golden age of formal dressing for the theater, the custom designs come in a variety of pastel and saturated hues of navy, magenta, black, and azalea. Tie The Knot also drew inspiration from their favorite Broadway show programs over the years that could be recreated with a modern twist through the latest on trend colors, textures, and fabrications. The end result is both playful and elegant - ideal for sitting in the front row or onstage taking a final curtain call!
This season's guest designer, Hamilton's hilarious King George and recent Tony award nominee Jonathan Groff, created a one-of-a-kind bow tie (pictured right) to support the organization. Groff's design puts a playful spin on a textural paint splattered print, perfect for any black tie, white tie, or red carpet occasion. "I'm so excited to support Tie The Knot and all of the incredible work they are doing for LGBTQ equality by designing this bow tie inspired by one of my favorite artists Jackson Pollock. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!" says Groff.
As part of the collection and inspired by Jesse's current starring role, both a bow tie and pocket square inspired by Fully Committed are also available now online exclusively through The Tie Bar and in the show's lobby gift shop.
When Tie The Knot was founded in 2012, only six states and Washington D.C. had passed marriage equality. Having raised over $500,000 - three years and 44 states later, the initial Tie The Knot goal was accomplished last June. Today, same-sex couples across the country can marry in all 50 states and have their marriage recognized. But for the hundreds-of-thousands of homeless LGBTQ youth around the country who are in desperate need of homes, emotional support, jobs, and healthcare - marriage is the least of their worries. There is no denying it - marriage equality is not enough. The work continues and Tie The Knot has rededicated itself to ensure that all rights of LGBTQ Americans are federally protected!
