Pointed Leaf Press announces the publication of ITALY OF MY DREAMS: The Story of an American Designer's Real Life Passion for Italian Style, a thrilling glimpse into the private world of famed American interior designer Matthew White (I). An exploration of classical Italian style in contemporary settings, with nearly two-hundred pages containing hundreds of lush color illustrations, ITALY OF MY DREAMS is a design object in-and-of-itself. It is now available for purchase in April, 2010.
In ITALY OF MY DREAMS, White takes the reader on a visual and textual journey-- from his childhood in a trailer park in Armarillo, Texas, to his first, life-changing trip to Venice, and through the development and application of his deep personal connection with the art and architecture of Italy. Each project detailed in the tome is one that White has not only designed, but has also called home. While the locations change - from California Villas to a Palazzo in New York City - the designer's passion remains true, making this celebration of Italian style as intimate as it is inspirational.
"Within these pages is my grand tour of sorts, a tour of my Italian-inspired homes past and present," Matthew White (I) writes in his forward to ITALY OF MY DREAMS. "Each one of these houses, whether situated in town or in the country, on the East Coast or the West, link three essential elements: a love of domesticity, a love of beauty, and a love of Italy."
Matthew White (I) is an American interior designer, whose work has been featured in nearly every American shelter magazine, including being selected as one of the "AD 100" (Architectural Digest's list of the 100 best designers in the world). In 2003 he joined forces with Frank Webb, launching the design firm White Webb. He is the President of Save Venice Inc., and currently lives in New York City.
