Photo Flash: Celeste Holm Portrait Unveiled at Lillian Booth Actors Home
Broadway and film legend Celeste Holm was joined by her husband, Frank Basile, and Joel Spector, the artist who painted her portrait, as a beautiful painting of her likeness was unveiled on Thursday, May 31st, at The Actors Fund's Lillian Booth Actors Home in Englewood, New Jersey. The portrait is now a part of the Permanent Collection of art at The Home. See a photo, featuring Holm, Basile and Spector at the unveiling, below!
A capacity crowd gathered and guests toasted Ms. Holm, known for her Academy Award-winning performance in Gentleman's Agreement (1947), as well as for her Oscar-nominated performances in Come to the Stable (1949) and All About Eve (1950) and her celebrated turn as Broadway's original Ado Annie from Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! (1943).
The painting was gifted by Joel to The Actors Fund as a tribute to Celeste Holm's many years of service. Ms. Holm played a leading role in both planning for fundraising and renovating The Actors Home, served as a Trustee Chair of the Committee overseeing The Home and as a member of The Fund's National Board of Advisors.
