Photo Flash: Baltimore Playwrights Festival's THE SCULPTRESS

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival (www.baltplayfest.com) kicks off its Thirtieth Season this Friday, July 8th, with the opening of The Sculptress, by Marilyn Millstone, at the Fells Point Corner Theater (www.fpct.org), 251 South Ann Street, Baltimore, MD 21231.

Directed by Juliana Avery, The Sculptress takes place around the year 1935 and centers on the unlikely friendship between two brilliant female artists: Camille Claudel, once the protégée and mistress of Auguste Rodin who was committed to an asylum by her brother, and the fiery young Spanish painter Remedios Varo, who he hopes will inspire Camille to begin sculpting again. Theirs is a story about the power of friendship, the fine line between eccentricity and madness, and the things that matter -- no matter what.
