Photo Flash: Attic Playhouse's A MURDER IS ANNOUNCED
Attic Playhouse presents Agatha Christie's "A MURDER IS ANNOUNCED" adapted by Leslie Darbon - running from April 15 - May 29, 2011.
First published as a novel in 1950, "A MURDER IS ANNOUNCED" has long been considered a classic in detective fiction and is regarded as the best of all the Miss Marple novels. This novel was the first Miss Marple mystery to be adapted for television. "A Murder Is Announced" was presented live on the NBC Television Goodyear Playhouse on December 30, 1956. It featured Gracie Field as Miss Jane Marple, Jessica Tandy as Letitia Blacklock and Roger Moore as Patrick Simmons. It was remade for the BBC series "Mystery!" in 1985 starring Joan Hickson as Miss Marple, and again in 2004 with Geraldine McEwan playing the role for ITV. "A Murder is Announced" was adapted for the stage by British dramatist Leslie Darbon - one year after Agatha Christie's death. The play staring Dulcie Gray as Miss Marple, was first presented at the Theatre Royal, Brighton; and subsequently at the Vaudeville Theatre, London, where it opened on September 21, 1977. After previously producing two other Agatha Christie mysteries, Attic Playhouse is thrilled to bring this classic whodunit to our stage!
