Photo Flash: A CHRISTMAS CAROL At Canal Playhouse
Canal Park Playhouse rings in the Festive season with Charles Dickens' Victorian-era story of redemption with A CHRISTMAS CAROL, AS TOLD BY Charles Dickens (HIMSELF), written by Greg Oliver Bodine and directed by David F. Chapman. A CHRISTMAS CAROL, AS TOLD BY Charles Dickens (HIMSELF) begins performances on Thursday, December 1 for a limited engagement through Saturday, December 24. Performances take place at Canal Park Playhouse (508 Canal Street, between Greenwich and West Streets in Tribeca).
The performance schedule is Thursday & Friday at 7 PM, Saturday at 12 PM and 2 PM. The regular ticket price is $18. A Pre Fixe brunch is available on Saturdays for an additional $8 in advance or $10 at the door. For tickets or more information, call OvationTix on 1-866-811-4111 or visit www.canalparkplayhouse.com.
Canal Park Playhouse, built in 1826, is the perfect place for a haunting. On Halloween eve, Playhouse Artistic Director Jack Coates held a séance with Producer Kipp Osborne and Managing Director Sara Murphy. They channeled the ghost of Charles Dickens, who decreed that his spirit would not rest until he performed A Christmas Carol for the festive season at the landmark theater.
Now the magical story of Ebenezer Scrooge's journey from dour skinflint to a compassionate embodiment of the Holiday spirit comes to life in the intimate and historic Canal Park Playhouse. Based on the Dickens' own material from his historic reading tours throughout the US.
