Photo Coverage: William Finn Q&A at Acting Up Stage's FALSETTOS
Acting Up Stage opened their newest production this past Thursday, a new version of Falsettos that is being produced with The Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company. The show was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1992, and took home the prize for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score.
Falsettos' book was written by James Lapine and William Finn, with Finn penning the music and lyrics. The show tells the story of a non-traditional Jewish family in NYC during the emergence of the HIV/AIDS crisis.
William Finn came to Toronto for the opening night, and on Friday he engaged in a Q&A with Toronto Star theatre critic Richard Ouzounian. The candid chat took place on stage at Daniel's Spectrum immediately following the evening performance. They discussed how Falsettos evolved over the years, Finn's relationship with his mother, his love for writing and for music, the troubled saga behind The Royal Family and his upcoming project, Little Miss Sunshine.
