Photo Coverage: The Vertical Hour Opening Night

The Vertical Hour, starring four-time Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore (The Hours, Magnolia) and acclaimed British film and stage actor Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Love Actually), opened on November 30th at the Music Box Theatre (29 W. 45th St.) after beginning previews on November 9th. The show will play a 20-week limited engagement.

The stars are making their Broadway debuts in the world premiere of David Hare's new play, the first Hare work ever to premiere on Broadway.� Directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes (Cabaret and Gypsy revivals, American Beauty),�the play also features�Andrew Scott, Dan Bittner and Rutina Wesley among the cast.�

"Nadia Blye (Moore) is a young American war correspondent turned academic who now teaches Political Studies at Yale. A brief holiday with her boyfriend in the Welsh borders brings her into contact with a kind of Englishman whose culture and beliefs are a surprise and a challenge, both to her and to her relationship.� David Hare's new play, about the interconnection between our secret motives and our public politics, seeks to illustrate how life has subtly changed for so many people in the West in the new century," state press notes.
