Stockings With Care is an organization that buys holiday gifts for children whose families either live in homeless shelters or are in jeopardy of becoming homeless and cannot afford to celebrate their holiday.
All bartenders' tips will go to Stockings With Care and be used to buy holiday gifts for children whose families either live in homeless shelters or are in jeopardy of becoming homeless and cannot afford to celebrate their holiday.
Created by television casting executive Rosalie Joseph and producer Tom Fontana ("Oz", "The Bedford Diaries"), Stockings With Care grants the gift wishes of children while preserving the dignity of parents or caregivers. In its 16th year, Stockings With Care works with various agencies that help families in crisis. The children make their wish lists. Social workers provide SWC with the name, gender, and age of each child. Individual donors, corporations, and a small army of volunteers come together to purchase and wrap the gifts. They are then delivered to the parents so that they can personally present the gifts to their children. The parents are empowered, dignity is maintained and holiday magic is created. Last year 3,000 children woke up to a miracle on Christmas morning. Through Stockings with Care, each child found the gift they had wished for and each parent shared their joy.
