Award-winning stars of stage and screen performed highlights saluting the career of lyricist and composer Sheldon Harnick on the occasion of his 80th birthday.A Gala celebration was held on Sunday evening May 2nd to benefit Encompass New Opera Theatre, a non-profit company specializing in development and production of new music-theater works and artists. Harnick is co-Chair (along with John Kander) of the company's artistic Advisory Board. The Gala event was held at the historic National Arts Club, at Gramercy Park in Manhattan. Stephen Sondheim serves as Honorary Gala Chair.
