Photo Coverage: Springtime for UPRIGHT

By:

UPRIGHT Cabaret, on March 9, was up to their unique musical celebration of up and coming performers along with the Broadway and Hollywood stars who frequent the monthly event at La Boheme restaurant in West Hollywood.

Billed as Springtime for UPRIGHT!, producers Chris Isaacson and Shane Scheel, along with music director Trapper Felides, were in full bloom as they continued their tradition of providing a playground for various talent to let loose on stage singing songs ranging from show tunes to original numbers.

This month marked an earlier start time as the list of performers vying to get up in front of the consistently crowded house grew slightly from previous shows.  And the overwhelming turnout and support for UPRIGHT has allowed its producers to expand the show to a second night, with the two year anniversary celebration scheduled for April 13 and 14, both starting at 10 p.m.

Michael Urie, of "Ugly Betty" fame, started the evening off singing the house rules, having to dart to a late-night taping of his ABC series.  Throughout the evening stage talents including Chad Kimball (Lennon), Sean McDermott (Miss Saigon) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) sang alongside some up and comers like the wickedly talented Audra Mae, Bree Bruns, Dawn Scheel and Talia Thiesfield.  Throw into that mix a few television thesps such as Autumn Reeser ("The O.C."), Busy Philipps ("ER") and Samantha Shelton, and the evening had no chance of being anything but fantastic.

UPRIGHT's dinner and drink specials begin at 8 p.m. with show time set for 10 p.m. La Boheme is located at 8400 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. For table reservations, call 323-848-2360 and for more information on UPRIGHT Cabaret, visit www.uprightcabaret.com or www.myspace.com/uprightcabaret.
