Photo Coverage: John Barrowman Promotes ALADDIN Pantomine

Desperate Housewives star John Barrowman was back in his native Glasgow, Scotland, to promote his forthcoming pantomine, Aladdin. The actor, who grew up in Aurora, Illinois, will be performing in the traditional British Christmas/New Year stage show from December 11 2010 - January 9 2011 at Glasgow's SECC. As a new twist to the panto experience, audience members will be provided with 3D glasses so they can view John's genie in spectacular close up.

Aladdin marks John's fifth pantomime season with Qdos - the largest pantomime producer in the world.

"I'm really looking forward to spending the holidays singing, dancing and having a good laugh in Glasgow next year!" says John Barrowman. "I love playing Aladdin and I think audiences will love everything about this amazing pantomime, especially the amazing 3D effects," John added.

"We are delighted to be bringing John and our superb production of Aladdin to Glasgow's SECC," says Michael Harrison, Managing Director of Qdos Entertainment's pantomime division. "John has smashed box office records wherever he has played in pantomime and I have no doubt that we will break even more records in Glasgow and stage an unmissable pantomime experience."

Aladdin has all of the traditional elements of pantomime but with the added surprise of an array of 3D special effects. Wearing 3D glasses at certain points throughout the show the audience can rub the magic lamp as it appears in front of their nose, summon the magical 3D Genie from his lamp and join Aladdin on a superb magic carpet ride.

Aladdin runs at the SECC's Clyde Auditorium from Friday 10 December 2010 to Sunday January 9, 2011. Tickets range in price from £14.00 - £27.50, and can be purchased by visiting www.ticketsoup.com or by calling the box office at 0844 395 4000.

Barrowman can currently be seen in ROBIN HOOD: THE PANTOMIME ADVENTURE at the New Theatre in Cardiff. The production opened on December 12 and will run through January 24, 2010. Barrowman recently led the cast of Menier Chocolate Factory's La Cage aux Folles, having stepped into the role of Albin on 9/14. Barrowman is a common face in English house-holds, having been a judge on UK reality TV shows "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" and the BBC program "I'd Do Anything" (to cast stars of Oliver!). He is also the star of the hit TV series "Torchwood."

In 2005, Barrowman appeared on the West End in A Few Good Men. His many other West End credits include Anything Goes (both in 1989 and in its 2003 revival), Grease!, The Phantom of the Opera, The Fix, Hair, Aspects of Love, Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast and Chicago, and he has appeared in the States in two Sondheim shows--Broadway's Putting It Together and as Bobby in Company at the Kennedy Center, as well as in Sunset Boulevard. Barrowman has appeared on TV on "Central Park West," and "Titans," and currently plays Captain Jack Harkness on the BBC series "Doctor Who." Film credits include De-Lovely and The Producers.
