Photo Coverage: BILLY ELLIOT Honors The Actors Fund

BILLY ELLIOT, currently playing at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway, dedicated the February 24th performance to The Actors Fund, granting proceeds to the fund in support of their programs and services. Michael Dameski and Jake Schwencke took the stage for the benefit.

The Actors Fund was founded in 1882 by actors and others in the entertainment professions to help those in need or crisis. It is a nonprofit, national human services organization that helps close to 10,000 people every year from across the country. With offices in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, The Fund supports everyone who works in performing arts and entertainment - on stage or screen or behind the scenes - through a wide array of programs in social and health services, employment and training, emergency financial assistance, insurance and housing needs, and assisted living and nursing care residences. For information on The Actor's fund, visit www.actorsfund.org.

Billy Elliot the Musical is the joyous celebration of one boy's journey to make his dreams come true. Set in a small town, the story follows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discovering a passion that takes him by surprise, and takes his whole family on an incredibly uplifting adventure.

The 2009 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Billy Elliot the Musical currently stars Michael Dameski, Alex Ko, Trent Kowalik, Liam Redhead and Dayton Tavares as Billy, Kate Hennig as Mrs. Wilkinson, Philip Whitchurch as Dad, Carole Shelley as Grandma, Will Chase as Tony, and Trevor Braun and Jake Evan Schwencke as Michael.

Featuring music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreographed by Peter Darling and directed by Stephen Daldry, Billy Elliot the Musical opened at Broadway's Imperial Theatre (240 W 45th St) Thursday, November 13, 2008 and was the winner of ten 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical.
