Photo Coverage: An 'Upright' Evening with Tim Draxl and Special Guest Lea Salonga

This past Sunday, April 26, Chris Isaacson and Shane Scheel presented An Evening with Tim Draxl and special guest Tony Award winner Lea Salonga, as part of Upright Cabaret's One Night Stand Series.

After selling out rooms in Sydney & last month at the Metropolitan Room in NYC, MAC award winning Aussie Cabaret Sensation Tim Draxl performed an unforgettable evening of jazz standards and contemporary songs sung with his impressive sultry swagger.

Ten years ago, Tim Draxl made his New York cabaret debut at the very tender age of 17. This past January Tim returned to New York with a fresh show which he performed to a sold out crowd at Upright Cabaret.

Over the last 10 years, Draxl has turned his attention to movies and received acclaim for his co-starring lead in films such as "Swimming Upstream" with Geoffrey Rush and Judy Davis, the BBC mini series "The Shark Net" and "the BBC sitcom "Supernova". In 2005 he returned to cabaret in Australia for a string of sold out concerts culminating in winning the prestigious Sydney Theatre Critics Award for "Cabaret Act of the Year". He recently wrapped production of "Ivory" co-starring Martin Landau.

Lea Salonga sang many of the songs she is well known for including 'Reflection' from Disney's Mulan, 'Promise Me' from her new album "Inspired" and 'On My Own' from Les Miserables. Lea is a multi-awarded Filipino singer and actress who is best known for originating the role of Kim in the musical Miss Saigon. In the field of musical theatre, she is recognized for having won the Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics, and Theatre World Awards, the first to win various international awards for a single role. She was also the first Asian to play Eponine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway.

Draxl and Salonga were joined by American Idol Music Director Michael Orland, who worked on their show on his day off from American Idol which is currently filming in Hollywood. Mr. Orland's addition marked by his utter talent made an already impressive evening, an extraordinary one! Mr. Orland was joined by Jonny Morrow on Bass and Matt Lucich on Drums.
