Philly Improv Theater Announces Upcoming Classes, Registration Now Open

WORKSHOP - "Emotional Integrity in Improv ": In this workshop, we will talk about how to play characters who are specific and grounded, willing to take emotional risks, and explore more. You will find ways to make discoveries instead of choices while you are on stage by relaxing and not stressing when you perform. This workshop will change your perspective on approaches to your work.

LEVEL 1 - INTRO TO LONGFORM: This is the place to start if you have never improvised before, or did some shortform improv in the past. In Intro to Longform you will learn about key improv skills like agreement, characterization, monologues, and object work. We'll finish by learning the Armando performance structure.

Dates: Sundays, September 20, 2009-November 8, 2009 (8 consecutive weeks)
Time: 7pm-9pm

LEVEL 1 - "Intro to Sketch Writing": This is the place to start if you have never written sketch comedy before, or have dabbled in the past. Over eight weeks, students will watch and discuss a variety of sketches, learn about different sketch formats, and write and workshop their own material. The focus in Level 1 is on developing each student's individual voice and comic sensibility. The class will conclude with established comedians performing a staged reading of students' favorite sketches.
