Philly Urban Theatre Festival Now Accepting Submissions
By: Nicole Rosky
The Philly Urban Theater Festival (PUTF) is currently accepting submissions for its 2nd annual season to be held at the The Adrienne Theatre Mainstage and 2nd Stage at 2030 Sansom St. in Philadelphia September 19 through October 9, 2011.
PUTF, produced by GoKash Productions., is a three-week celebration of urban theatrical expression by a cross-section of playwrights. This annual event showcases theatrical works that echo the true spirit of urban life and speak to a whole new generation whose lives defycategorizing along conventional lines. Our theme for 2011 is "Diversity on Stage" and as such, each production presented will need to have some racial diversity representation in the cast. For PUTF 2011, we will accept approximately 12-15 full length theatrical works (60 - 120
minutes). Each work is performed only once during the festival. Two of the outstanding works
produced during the festival will receive $1,000 awards in the categories of Best Play and Best
Audience. There is no submission or participation fee.
