Pequana Playhouse Hosts Costume Party, 10/25
Pequana Playhouse is having its annual party to celebrate another successful year of entertainment and activities. On Sunday, October 25, 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Brink Center in Baudette. This Halloween Costume Party will be a potluck. The event will include a costume contest.
In addition, members of the Pequana Playhouse will have an opportunity to elect selected members of the board of directors.
Pequana's first production, held in early 1983 with the aid of a Region 2 Arts and Humanities Council grant, was The Wizard of Oz. Public reaction prior to opening was amused and indulgent: the general attitude was that it was nIce That we wanted to have a community theater but it just wouldn't work in this area. The Wizard of Oz surprised many by being well done, and people began to look forward with anticipation to the next production. In 2001 Pequana presented a summer children's theater production of Charlotte's Web, and in 2002 Pequana sponsored a one-day artist-in-residence improvisational workshop for Lake of the Woods School with a repeat for adults the following day. In 2002 Pequana also sponsored its "First Annual" Variety Show. The one-day artist-in-residence workshop was repeated in 2003, this time the topic was on how to audition and impress a casting director.
