Penguin Rep Theatre Presents Actor/Comedian Robert Wuhl 9/10

By:

Two-time Emmy Award winner Robert Wuhl will star in Assume the Position, an all-new follow-up to his acclaimed HBO specials, for one performance only, Saturday, September 10 at 8 pm at SUNY Rockland Community College's Cultural Arts Theatre in Suffern, New York.

History is a wonderfully funny thing - if only it was true! - as Mr. Wuhl, star of HBO's Arli$, playfully examines some of the facts, myths, and myths-that-became-facts of American history . "What Robert Wuhl did to the world of sports on Arli$," says Penguin Rep executive director Andrew M. Horn, "he does on stage to American history with Assume the Position."

Mr. Wuhl has been twice honored with Emmy Awards in 1991 and 1992 for helping to write the Academy Award telecasts hosted by Billy Crystal, and also wrote for the comedian when he hosted the Grammy Awards. He was also a writer for the TV comedy Police Squad.

Mr. Wuhl began testing the comedic waters after attending the University of Houston and heading to the East Coast where he began performing stand-up comedy in New York clubs, including at The Improv. He also garnered the attention of Rodney Dangerfield who hired him as one of his joke writers.

After several years of stand-up, Mr. Wuhl turned his attention to film and television with roles in the movies Batman, Bull Durham, Cobb, and Good Morning, Vietnam.

Assume the Position with Robert Wuhl debuted as an HBO special in 2006 and was followed by a second chapter a year later.

Assume the Position is generously underwritten by Joseph Grosso.

Tickets are priced at $34 each ($29 for Penguin subscribers).

To order tickets, visit Penguin Rep's website at www.penguinrep.org or call 845-786-2873.
