I CAN'T WAIT: THE SONGS OF Patrick Dwyer, a new revue of songs by the theatre/cabaret songwriter, will be presented at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, 61 Christopher Street at 7th Avenue, on Saturday February 25 at 4:30pm and Monday February 27 at 7pm.
The hour-long show will feature the vocal talents of Teal Wicks, Robb Sapp and Tally Sessions.
Music direction will be provided by T.O. Sterrett and the show will be directed by Jeff Davolt.
Patrick Dwyer is a composer/lyricist whose work includes the musicals Ten Reasons Why I Am Going to Hell (two MAC award nominations: Outstanding Song and Outstanding Special Material), Theatreworks USA's If You Give a Mouse a Cookie & Other Story Books (Off-Broadway at the Lortel Theatre, national tour), Cabin Pressure (Audience Favorite Award: American Globe Theatre), and the children's album/song cycle Man in the Moon: Songs from Very Far Away. His work was featured at The York Theatre's NEO5 benefit, as well as other benefits and concerts throughout New York City. Patrick is an alum of Butler University, NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, and the first annual Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project at Northwestern University.
Teal Wicks is best known for her critically acclaimed performance as Elphaba in the Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Broadway companies of Wicked. She was last seen in the Second Stage production of the new musical The Blue Flower as Maria, a role she created in an earlier production at A.R.T. where she was nominated for an IRNE and Elliot Norton Award for her performance. Teal has also been seen onstage in NY in City Center Encores! Stairway to Paradise, the US premiere of Godlight Theatre Company's Fahrenheit 451 at 59E59, the premiere of Lance Horne's musical The $trip at the Ohio Theatre. Regionally Teal has been seen as Catherine in the National Tour and Goodspeed productions of Pippin, Turandot in Diane Paulus' original musical Turandot: Rumble for the Ring at Bay Street Theatre, Martha Jefferson in 1776 at Goodspeed Opera House. Teal hails from Sacramento, California and was recently conferred the honor of Distinguished Alumna of the University of California Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts where she received a BA in Drama with an Honors in Musical Theatre.
