Paramount Presents HIPPIEFEST 2011, 10/14

By:

Get ready to re-visit the era of peace, love and rock ‘n roll as a legendary cast of 60's and 70's rock icons take over the Paramount stage for HIPPIEFEST 2011 on Friday, October 14th at the Paramount Center For The Arts! The lineup includes Dave Mason, Mark Farner, Rick Derringer and Felix Cavaliere's Rascals.

These artists represent some of the most distinctive music of the last 40 years. The co-founder of Traffic, Dave Mason, wrote some of the most memorable hits of the era including "Feelin' Alright" and "40,000 Headmen" and his solo career produced "Only You Know and I Know", "We Just Disagree" and "Look at You Look at Me."

Former Grand Funk Railroad lead singer, Mark Farner, will be performing Grand Funk's classic hits including "I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home", "Some Kind of Wonderful", "We're An American Band" and "The Loco-Motion."

Joining them is singer/songwriter Rick Derringer who, as a 17-year-old, was a member of the McCoys and had a No. 1 hit in 1965 with "Hang On, Sloopy". On his own, he scored with "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo", "Real American", "Teenage Love Affair" and "Still Alive and Well."

Felix Cavaliere's Rascals' popularity started as a part of the Young Rascals, during which time they had several hits, including "People Got to be Free", "Groovin", "Good Lovin' ", "I've Been Lonely Too Long", "How Can I Be Sure" and "It's a Beautiful Morning". His work on the Hammond B-3 organ is regarded as one of the landmarks of 1960s white R&B.

HIPPIEFEST, A Concert For Peace and Love, presented by Rrazz Entertainment and the Paramount, at the Paramount Center for the Arts on Friday, October 14, 2011. Showtime is 8 pm. The theatre is located at 1008 Brown Street in Peekskill. Tickets start at just $45.
