The UK Daily Mail is reporting that Scottish rocker Paolo Nutini is being courted to write the score and possibly the lyrics to a musical adaptation of the film Nowhere Boy, based on John Lennon

Nowhere Boy (2009) is a British biopic about John Lennon's adolescence, his relationships with his guardian aunt and his birth mother, the creation of his first band, the Quarrymen, and its evolution into the Beatles. The film is based on a biography written by Lennon's half-sister Julia Baird. The film was released in the US on October 8, 2010.

According to the report, Rupert Goold is attached to direct the project. It is being produced by Sally Greene, who is also attached to Billy Elliot and is an executive at The Old Vic Theatre, and Ecosse Films, who produced the film.

The album peaked at number three on the UK Album Chart and was certified 4× platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. In May 2009 Nutini released his second album, Sunny Side Up, which debuted at number one in the UK and has produced four singles; "Candy", "Coming Up Easy", "Pencil Full of Lead" and "10/10". It has so far been certified 4x platinum by the BPI.
