New Classes! Sketch Level 2 is Here! DON'T WAIT. SIGN UP NOW.

We've been selling out classes and workshops again, but we wanted to offer one final reminder about these two great sessions starting this weekend - Sketch Level 2 and Acting for Improvisers (a one-day deal). If you're really desperate to take Sketch Level 2 and need to make financial arrangements, we're listening... just so long as you reply to this message to talk about it!

WORKSHOP - "Acting for Improviers": This workshop will provide a sample of acting techniques that improvisers may use to bring more depth and power to their improv work. Concepts covered will include stage presence, relaxation, voice, movement, responding authentically, having a strong connection to your scene partner, entrances, exits and much more all in a fun a low stress atmosphere. This class is designed for those with little or no previous formal acting training.

Dates: November 7, 2009
Time: 3-6pm
Location: The Shubin Theatre, 407 Bainbridge Street, Philly, PA 19147
Instructor: Kelly Jennings (bio)
Cost: $35

LEVEL 2 SKETCH WRITING - "Collaborative Sketch Writing": Moving beyond concepts introduced in our Level 1 Sketch Writing class students will continue to expand their skills through close work with an instructor, workshopping with their peers, and the added challenge of learning how to write collaboratively.

Dates: Sundays, November 8, 2009-January 10, 2010 (no class Thanksgiving Weekend, weekend after Christmas)
Time: 3pm-6pm
Location: The Painted Bride Art Center, Space B, 230 Vine Street, Philly, PA 19106

And for those of you who've never improvised before, we do have another Level 1 class starting again just a week further in the future!

LEVEL 1 IMPROV - "Intro to Longform": This is the place to start if you have never improvised before, or did some shortform improv in the past. In Intro to Longform you will learn about key improv skills like agreement, characterization, monologues, and object work. We'll finish by learning the Armando performance structure.

Dates: Sundays, November 15-November 30, 2009 (8 consecutive weeks)
Time: 4pm-6pm
Location: The Painted Bride Space B, 230 Vine Street, Philly, PA 19106
Instructor: "Cubby" Altobelli
Cost: $150 before 11/8/09; $199 after

Finally, we've got even more great stuff coming up in December - including Ali Farahnakian's Writing for SNL Workshops in afternoon and evening sessions, and an improv master class as well!

Try a Drop-In Workshop!

PHIT is starting a great new program for the busy improviser on our mailing list. Beginning this Sunday at 3pm, we'll be offering a DROP-IN class that anyone with some prior improv experience (with us or someone else) can attend for just $10. The drop-ins happen every Sunday we're in The Shubin from 3-5pm and have no advance registration. When you come you'll bring $10 (cash only) and leave your name and email. Then you'll have fun for 120 minutes...

There are more details about November's drop-ins (we have a new topic each week!) on our website at this page!
