Andrew Lloyd Webber’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, the longest-running show in Broadway history, will be featured tomorrow morning, Friday, October 31 throughout the 7AM-9AM Halloween broadcast of CBS’ national The Early Show.
As part of the broadcast, leading man Howard McGillin will be performing “The Music of the Night” live in his full Phantom costume. Having donned the mask in more than 2,200 performances, Mr. McGillin has played the title role on Broadway more than any other performer.
In addition to that live performance, the broadcast will include Ensemble cast members decked out in their “Masquerade” costumes on the CBS Plaza and several other PHANTOM surprises.
Broadcast nationally weekday mornings on CBS, The Early Show can be seen in the New York/Tri-state area 7AM-9AM on WCBS-TV, Channel 2.

Worldwide attendance is over 80 million people, having played over 65,000 performances in 25 countries and 124 cities. It’s won over 50 Theater awards including 7 Tonys, and there are currently 8 productions around the world. The next international opening will be Perth, Australia in February 2009.

Lyrics are by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe) and the book is by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA currently stars Howard McGillin in the title role, Marni Raab as ‘Christine’ and Tim Martin Gleason as ‘Raoul.’ The musical also co-stars George Lee Andrews (‘Monsieur André’), David Cryer (‘Monsieur Firmin’), Patricia Phillips (‘Carlotta’), Rebecca Judd (‘Madame Giry’), Evan Harrington (‘Piangi’) and Polly Baird (‘Meg Giry’). At certain performances, Elizabeth Loyacano plays ‘Christine.’ Mr. Andrews has been with the production for its entire run.
