PETITE ROUGE: A CAJUN RED RIDING HOOD Comes To The Rose 3/6

Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood, a fast-paced musical twist on the story that has been told for generations, will delight audiences from The Rose main stage, March 6 through 22. Based on the book by Mike Artell, illustrated by Jim Harris, this play adapted by Joan Cushing is filled with laughs, song and dance.

“Petite Rouge has all of the basic elements of ‘Little Red Riding Hood,” said Director James Larson,
“But is a light, witty comedy with French and Cajun influences, and the music, dance and life-sized
animal characters and costumes are extraordinary.”

Larson describes the show as similar to an old “road show” movie, rich with the language and
inflection of New Orleans. In the play, Petite Rouge, a duck, and her cat Te-Jean go down the river to see Grandmere (grandmother).

Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood will be presented March 6 through 22 on The Rose
Theater main stage, 2001 Farnam Street, with shows every Friday at 7 p.m., every Saturday at 2 p.m. and every Sunday at 2 p.m. The 60-minute show is recommended for children ages 4 to 12.
