On May 7th and 8th 2009, 8:00pm at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts, members of PACE University's Musical Theatre program will host an evening of song entitled "Our Urban Jungle" featuring contemporary musical theatre works by composers Ryan Scot Oliver (2009 Jonathan Larson Grant recipient), Kerrigan & Lowdermilk (2006 Jonathan Larson Grant recipients), Pasek & Paul (2007 Jonathan Larson Award), David Dabbon & Tom Bruett, Drew Fornarola & Scott Elmegreen, Danny Larsen & Michele Elliott, Joshua Salzman & Ryan Cunningham, Jonathan Reid Gealt, Tony Asaro & Vadim Feichner, Gordon Leary & Karlan Judd in benefit to Artists Striving To End Poverty (ASTEP).

Amy Rogers (PACE Assistant Professor; Performing Arts), who has volunteered at ASTEP's program in India at the Shanti Bhavan School for ‘untouchable' (lowest caste) children, will direct this exciting evening of fresh new material and talent; Stephanie Layton will Music Direct. It should also be noted that many of these gifted composers have previously donated their time and talent to ASTEP by participating in the ArtCents Concert Series and are continuing to support the cause by contributing to this event.

There will also be a live auction with some fantastic prizes including tickets and backstage tours to a variety of Broadway and off- Broadway shows, voice coaching and lessons with esteemed composers and teachers, passes to Bravo's Inside the Actor's Studio, Broadway paraphernalia, and gift certificates to different NYC establishments.

The Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts is located at 3 Spruce Street (just East of Park Row near the corner of Gold Street). Tickets will be $5.00 for Students and $15.00 for Adults. All proceeds from ticket sales and auction for the evening will be donated to Artists Striving To End Poverty (ASTEP).

Pace University is host to Bravo's Inside the Actor's Studio and Pace New Musicals which include: Mark Waldrop & Brad Ross' musical Luck!, Drew Fornarola's College: The Musical, as well as Ryan Scott Oliver & B.T. Ryback's Darling.

Artists Striving To End Poverty (ASTEP) uses the arts as a tool to empower young people with creativity, knowledge, and a strong sense of self-esteem, factors which help them advance their lives and communities. At ASTEP, we provide artists with opportunities to connect with global youths, allowing them to use their gifts to create meaningful and effective change for young people in need. ASTEP's main goal is to create a community of artists who are actively engaged in using their talents to raise awareness about the plight of the children we serve and to dynamically assist by volunteering at our programs in India, Africa, New York and Florida.
