Owens' Award-Winning 'Naught But Pirates' at EXIT, June

By:

Sean Owens returns to EXIT Theatre with Naught But Pirates, to play June 8 - 30.  This outrageous adventure won him the Audience Choice Award at the New York Frigid Fest in March, 2007.

"An evening of dining, debauching and dandyism, this solo spectacular boasts a trio of unsavory characters, including an overreaching rock star and the legendary pirate himself, Black Dick," states press notes.

With original music by long-time Owens collaborator Don Seaver.  Directed by Kenny Shults and produced by EXIT Theatre.

In 2006, SF Weekly named Owens San Francisco's Best Comic Playwright, adding "with a highly developed sense of the silly and a consummate feeling for dramatic structure and comic delay, Owens has rightly won adoration among Bay Area Audiences as a playwright for the past 15 years."

Sean Owens and Don Seaver have been collaborating since 1997, beginning with Seaver's musical score for The Big Drag at Theatre Rhinoceros.  Seaver did the music for Owens' Girlesque (2004).  Most recently, Seaver has written the scores, as well as the music to Sean's lyrics, in Owens's ensemble comedies Odd By Nature I (2006) and Odd By Nature II (2007), both produced at EXIT Theatre. Their collaboration continued with the last two DIVAfest Cabarets, On the Sixes in 2006 and this year's Sassy & SeductiveNaught But Pirates introduces a new Seaver & Owens song, "Not for a Lack of a Lass."

EXIT Stage Left is located at 156 Eddy St, San Francisco.

Show times are Fridays & Saturdays, June 8 through 30 at 8PM.   Tickets ($12-$20) are available by phone at 415-673-3847 and online at www.theexit.org.
