Overtime Theatre Presents FRAMES, 4/8-5/7
By: Nicole Rosky
In April-May 2011, the Overtime Theater will stage the world premiere of Frames, a new drama written by Sharon Argo and directed by Morgan Scharff.
Set in an Alzheimer's care ward, Frames is a collection of scenes which embody the heartache and joy of lost memories elicited by sounds and songs from the different characters' pasts and personal experiences. The play started as a short scene based on the song "Nadine" and how it creates a memory for two African American youths. For one character, though, the memory becomes distorted by time and the effects of Alzheimer's. Playwright Sharon Argo took this short scene and expanded it into different scenes representing different age groups, races, and sexual orientations."This play not only is about how memory plays a huge role in our lives, but how there are so many ways that memories can create so many various reactions, both from the audience as well as diverse characters," Argo said.Show Dates and Times: April 8 - May 7, 2011. 8 pm Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. One 3 pm matinee on Sunday, May 1. No show on Friday, May 6 (First Friday).
