Open Lab Collective Presents Two Days ‘til Dawn

By:

Open Lab Collective's Two Days ‘til Dawn is directed by Laura Sisskin-Fernández, this dark comedy follows a troubled novelist, who turns to his hallucinations for advice -- played by the ghosts of historic literary figures. The play is premiering in June at the Gene Frankel Theatre (East Village, NYC) as part of the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, and our goal is to raise awareness towards the Lower East Side Ecology Center.

Playwright Tyler Ham Pong states "As playwright, my aim with Two Days ‘til Dawn was to create memorable interpretations of already well-known figures; to dive deeper than their literary impact, and explore their own inspirations and the effects art had on their lives. One example is Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Her life is often shadowed by his career, when, in fact, she was the inspiration for much of his iconic work, most of which still has an influence on contemporary Hollywood. In our time, when The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and soon-to-be-released The Great Gatsby are being "rediscovered", it's important to take a look at the life behind the art. Other figures portrayed in the play are Alice Liddell and Lord Byron.

This production marks my second achievement as a playwright, my first being Moony Mercury which premiered in February of 2009. In addition, I have recently received the Award of Excellence in the category of short screenplay at the 2011 Canada International Film Festival. Laura Sisskin-Fernández's previous work includes assistant directing the sold-out run of The Cherry Orchard starring Julie Garfield at the Terry Schreiber Studio."

Performances will be at the Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond St., New York, NY, on June 8th at 9:30pm, June 11th at 3pm, June 19th at 6pm, June 20th at 4:30pm, June 22nd at 7pm and June 25th at 5pm. Tickets are $18.00. For more information, you can visit www.planetconnections.org/twodaystildawn.
