Open House at S.P.A.C.E.

By:

Evanston's new fusion of food, music, and artist performance space kicks off its press night with tours of the new recording studio, a first hand look at a new video being shot by a local band, and food and drink from the first class restaurant and bar–all happening under the same roof in one S.P.A.C.E.

This groundbreaking recording studio, restaurant and arts and music function space is located at 1245 Chicago Avenue in Evanston. The project is spearheaded by prominent Chicago businessman Craig Golden (Principal of Sterling Bay and owner of the Lakeshore Theater), music producer and former WBEZ radio personality Stuart Rosenberg, Chicago musician Dave Specter, and Campagnola restaurateur Steven Schwartz.

Chicago resident and prominent musician Dave Specter, Skokie resident and veteran music producer and radio personality Stuart Rosenberg, Evanston resident and principal of Sterling Bay Companies and partner in the Lakeshore Theater Craig Golden and Evanston resident Steve Schwartz, of Evanston's popular Campagnola restaurant.

The venue includes three unique entities aimed at uniting the local community by serving as a place where creativity and the arts are explored and celebrated:

The League of Creative Musicians, unlike any other local organization, is a membership club offering an extraordinary setting to pursue music and connect with other artists. This "country club" for musicians houses a fully-equipped multi-room complex that includes a state-of-the-art recording studio and rehearsal space with top-quality equipment. The organization is the perfect creative outlet for music lovers to finally record the songs they've been writing, or who want to meet up for a jam session with other artists after a stressful day at work. Members can also participate in master classes and seminars with legendary musicians, or play the clubs exquisite collection of vintage instruments, among other amenities.

The Society for the Preservation of Arts and Culture in Evanston (the S.P.A.C.E), is a fully-equipped audio-visual music venue and function space which will host events that run the gamut from rock concerts to poetry readings to business meetings to intimate social gatherings. The 3,000 square foot space is a casually elegant setting with an upscale urban vibe.

Glenview resident Rhonda Penzell, Evanston residents Marsha Kazurinsky and Tim Kazurinsky and Dave Freeman of Chicago

Union Pizzeria, is a sophisticated, contemporary 10,000 square foot restaurant that will feature the cuisine of Campagnola's acclaimed Chef Vince DiBattista, including brick-oven pizzas and shared-plate Italian specialties using mostly organic ingredients. The restaurant's modern yet rustic décor includes original exposed brick and a fully-domed wood-burning brick oven, hand-built by a Vermont craftsman.

Dan Brauner of Evanston, Kate Friedman of Evanston, Peter Fraterdeas of Galena and Beth Adler of Evanston
