OLEANNA's Julia Stiles Reveals Her 'NYC' Favs to NY Post

OLEANNA star Julia Stiles, a native New Yorker, revealed her "New York City" favorites to the Sunday NY Post.

The stage and screen favorite remarked, "There's a pilates instructor in the East Village named Andrea Mitchell I've been working with for a while. She works mainly out of Rinaldi, and she's got a Web site called themitchellmethod.com. She's so knowledgeable about anatomy and alignment, and she's really helped me not get injured while I'm doing this play." To read her full list of "NY Musts" click here.

Julia Stiles was born and trained in New York City. She began her career onstage as a member of the Ridge Theater Company in such productions as Everyday Newt Berman, Sandalwood Box, Photo Op (all at La Mama Theater); Matthew/School of Life, Hughies (both at The Kitchen Theater); and Jungle Movie (One Dream). More recently, she has appeared in Twelfth Night (Shakespeare in the Park) as Viola and the West End revival of David Mamet's Oleanna. She was seen in the film version of David Mamet's play Edmond and the motion picture A Little Trip to Heaven. Other films include The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Identity, Mona Lisa's Smile, Hamlet, Ten Things I Hate About You, O, State and Main, Save the Last Dance and The Business of Strangers.

Previews began on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 for the first ever Broadway production of OLEANNA, the provocative drama by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet. Starring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles and directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes (Doubt), the play is a gripping account of a power struggle between a male university professor and one of his female students. The Broadway production celebrated Opening Night on Sunday, October 11 at at The Golden Theatre. Direct from a smash hit summer engagement in Los Angeles, this new production of OLEANNA was an instant hit with critics and audiences alike, premiering to rave reviews at The Mark Taper Forum.

The Broadway production is produced by Jeffrey FinnArlene ScanlanJed BernsteinKen Davenport, Carla EmilErgo EntertainmentHarbor EntertainmentElie Hirschfeld, Rachel Hirschfeld, HOP Theatricals, Brian Fenty/Martha H. Jones and Center Theatre Group.

The Broadway production features the same creative team as the L.A. production, including scenic design by Neil Patel, costume design by four-time Tony Award winner Catherine Zuber, lighting design by two-time Tony Award winner Donald Holder and fight direction by Rick Sordelet. Production Stage Manager is Charles Means.

Tickets, $116.50 to $76.50, are available for purchase through visiting www.telecharge.com, calling (212) 239-6200 or visiting the Golden Theatre box office (252 West 45th Street). The performance schedule for OLEANNA will be Tuesday at 7PM, Wednesday through Saturday at 8PM, with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2PM and Sunday at 3PM. During previews, Tuesdays are at 8PM.

Following a world premiere in May 1992 as the first production of David Mamet's Back Bay Theater Company in Cambridge, MA and starring William H. Macy and Rebecca Pidgeon, OLEANNA had its New York premiere Off-Broadway at The Orpheum Theatre on October 23, 1992. Directed by Mamet and again starring Mr. Macy and Ms. Pidgeon, the hit production ran 513 performances, eventually featuring Treat Williams as John. www.OleannaOnBroadway.com
