Canadian rising star Haley McGee returns to Theatre ROW in an Encore presentation of her award-winning solo show OH MY IRMA as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival on November 2 & 5, 2012.

OH MY IRMA made its New York debut last year at United Solo, the world’s largest solo theatre festival, and was awarded Best Overall Production. This year, OH MY IRMA returns to United Solo as part of an international tour which will include performances in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Brighton (UK), Stratford (Canada), Kiel (Germany) and London (UK).

Directed by Siminovitch Prize Finalist, Chalmers and Dora Award winning director Alisa Palmer, OH MY IRMA sees McGee bring the memorable Mission Bird, a socially inept young woman with an insatiable appetite for connection, to the stage in her hilarious and mesmerizing “tour de force” play.

A comedy with razor teeth, Mission Bird finds herself in front of an audience, defending an unnamable crime which YES, she committed, but it wasn’t her fault. The story takes macabre turns and Mission Bird’s ardent defense crumbles as she comes closer to revealing to the audience what she’s done - who she’s killed.

Originating as a five-minute piece at an emerging artist cabaret at Toronto’s legendary Theatre Passe Muraille, OH MY IRMA was further developed at the prestigious Banff Playwrights’ Colony and performed to rave reviews and sold-out houses at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival, before its professional debut back at Theatre Passe Muraille.
