Nueva Escena Holds Auditions For SALSA GORDA 8/4
Nueva Escena, Inc. (prod.) is casting Salsa Gorda, the story of photographer Daniel Cuevas (Modesto Lacen), a man who is passionate about salsa music, as he reminisces about the events that preceded his death from AIDS in the early '80s. His story is also told from the perspectives of his best friend Luis (Jorge Dieppa) and Marime (Laura Butler), his lover and the mother of his child. Seeking-Dancers: male and female, amazing dancers with strong salsa/Latin dance background, contemporary and lyrical background training a plus, all dancers should be comfortable telling a story with movement, being on stage all the time, and working with lots of experimental staging. Age range is young adult (ages 18-29) and thirties (ages 30-39). Ethnicity: African-American/black, Latin/Hispanic/South American.
Auditions will be held Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. (female dancers) & 11 a.m. (male dancers) at Pearl Studios, 500 Eighth Ave., #4, NYC. Be warmed up and ready to dance.
