Nothin' But A Good Time at ROCK OF AGES

Have you ever crimped and teased your hair?  Fantasized about Tawny Kitaen dancing on the hood of your Jaguar?  Played some epic air guitar, or even some epic Guitar Hero?  I'm sure we've all cranked up the stereo in our car to belt out some Journey while stuck in rush hour traffic on 281.  If you answered "yes" to any of these statements, then you need to plant yourself in a seat at the Majestic Theatre this week.  Rock of Ages, a jukebox musical celebrating the glory days of 80s rock, has a gig every day this week until Sunday.

Starring former American Idol contestant Constantine Maroulis, Rock of Ages isn't your typical Broadway musical.  It routinely breaks the "fourth wall" to interact with the audience and get you singing and clapping along with them, creating the essence of a stadium rock concert, with a live band to-boot.  Packed with songs that you'll find on awesome CD compilations like "Monster Ballads," there's not a number in the show that you won't find yourself humming with, or maybe even raising your lighter to.

Maroulis (Drew Bowie) joins the touring cast direct from Broadway, where he earned a Tony nomination for the role.  He's supported by his leading lady, Elicia MacKenzie (Sherrie), sound technician (and narrator) Patrick Lewallen, bar owner Nick Cordero (Dennis), epitomized glam rock frontman Peter Deiwick (Stacee Jaxx), and an extremely talented supporting ensemble.  The vocal pyrotechnics of Maroulis and Mackenzie allow the seemingly odd combination of a rock concert and piece of musical theatre to make perfect sense.

Rock of Ages is certainly a show for the ages, but not for ALL ages, so leave the kiddies at home for this one to enjoy the debauchery of the life of a rock band without having to explain to your eight-year-old what an 8bball is.  Come ready to have a good time, to belt out your favorite Poison hit, raise that lighter and listen to your collection of 80s music on the drive home, because Rock of Ages is nothin' but a good time.
