A feature in the New York Times has taken a look at the possible poster designs for the upcoming revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, starring Kelsey Grammar and Douglas Hodge. In attempting to choose a poster for the show, producer Sonia Friedman looked at several possible designs and chose the one she felt best represented the show.
Friedman worked alongside Drew Hodges, cheif executive of SpotCo, the advertising agency in charge of LA CAGE. The Times has taken a look at three of the six possible poster designs and discussed with Friedman and Hodges why the design was ultimately rejected in favor of the final choice.

Based on the 1973 French play of the same name by Jean Poiret, La Cage Aux Folles focuses on a gay couple: Georges, the manager of a Saint-Tropez nightclub featuring drag entertainment, and Albin, his romantic partner and star attraction, and the farcical adventures that ensue when Georges' son, Jean-Michel, brings home his fiancée's ultra-conservative parents to meet them.
The musical's original 1983 Broadway production received nine nominations for Tony Awards and won six, including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book. The success of the musical spawned a West End production and several international runs. The 2004 Broadway revival won the Tony Award for Best Revival, and the 2008 London revival garnered the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival.
Tickets for the upcoming Broadway revival of La Cage Aux Folles are available at the box office of the Longacre Theatre.
